SHOOT YOUR SHOT AT THE GATEWAY SHOOTOUT
The premier invitation-only national high school winter sports tournament in the United States, the Gateway Shootout hosted at the America’s Center in St. Louis, Missouri, features top high school athletes and teams from across America competing in basketball, wrestling, boxing, band, cheerleading, and dance.
The 2025 Gateway Classic National Tournament features high school athletes competing in a 32-team boys’ and girls’ national basketball tournament, a 16-team boys’ and girls’ metro basketball tournament, boys’ and girls’ national basketball all-star game, 32-wrestler bracket boys’ and girls’ national wrestling tournament, 16-boxer boys’ and girls’ junior and youth division boxing tournament, and high school band, cheerleading, and dance competitions.
The Gateway Shootout provides America’s high school athletes the opportunity to compete against the BEST!

The Gateway Shootout isn’t just a tournament—it’s a movement. Created in collaboration with Annie Malone, this event uses the game of basketball to teach discipline, resilience, and confidence to students from kindergarten through 12th grade.

To be the best, you have to BEAT the BEST!
You may be a state champion, that’s AWESOME, but there are a few state champions at your same weight in your state, and there are 50 states. The 32 high school wrestlers and 16 boxers invited to our tournaments represent the best high school combat sports athletes in their respective weight and sex categories in America.
Participating in our mid-season basketball tournament against the best High School teams from around the United States provides the ultimate opportunity to earn the right to call themselves one of the best High School basketball teams in America by winning on the court.
Our band, cheerleading and dance tournaments pits eventual National placers against each other as a run-up to national competitions. Our tournament does not award any National titles to our participants; that’s the job of our various amateur association partners.”
Gateway Shootout is designed as a mid-season litmus test against the best athletes and performers in the Great USA!

Reach Out!
Gateway Shootout Volunteers, Staff and Officials
Gateway Shootout is seeking paid referees, judges, athletic facility cleaning and setup staff, and athletic trainers for our basketball, boxing, wrestling, band, cheerleading and dance tournaments. We also seek St. Louis-area volunteers with a background in supporting high school athletic events to serve as community volunteers. All volunteer and staff members are provided one complimentary access pass to all Gateway Shootout general admission events!
