Gateway Shootout hosts two basketball tournaments, Gateway Shootout Metro Basketball Tournament and Gateway Shootout National Basketball Tournament.
Gateway Shootout National Basketball Tournament is a Boys and Girls 32-team bracket tournament featuring the best high school basketball teams in the United States, hosted on Tuesday, December 30, through Friday, January 3, 2026.
On Sunday, December 29, 2025, 64 Boys and Girls basketball teams from Missouri and Illinois face off against each other in a “play-in” basketball game to earn seeding to compete against the top 16 High School basketball teams in the United States in the Gateway Shootout National Basketball Tournament.
The 16 losers of the Gateway Shootout National Basketball Tournament play-in game will play in the 16-team Gateway Shootout Metro Basketball Tournament hosted on Tuesday, December 30, through Friday, January 2, 2026.
Gateway Shootout currently seeks 48 basketball referees who are (a) actively certified as a Referee by the NCAA or (b) actively certified as a basketball referee by a state high school association and have worked as a referee in at least three high school basketball state championship games.
All Gateway Shootout basketball tournament referees work as part of a six-official crew rotating as referee, umpire A, umpire B, game official scorer, game clock operator, and shot clock operator throughout basketball tournament play, regardless of experience level.
Gateway Shootout basketball tournament referees rotate between games, working as a referee/umpire and the officials’ table as a scorer, game clock operator, or shot clock operator. Gateway Shootout basketball referees will NOT be requested to work as an electronic score board operator or perform any other basketball tournament duty.
Each Gateway Shootout basketball tournament referee is paid a flat rate of $1,500.00 to referee five tournament games and work the official’s table for five tournament games on Sunday, December 29, 2025, and Tuesday, December 30, 2025.
Gateway Shootout basketball tournament referees selected to work on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, Thursday, January 1, 2026, and Friday, January 2, 2025, are paid an additional $250.00 for each game as a referee and an additional $100.00 for each game performing official’s table duties.
Gateway Shootout basketball tournament referees selected to officiate Gateway Shootout basketball tournament’s eight premier games are paid an additional $600.00 for each game as a referee and an additional $150.00 for each game performing official table duties.
Gateway Shootout basketball tournament referees who are assigned to work all available basketball tournament shifts earn $4,300.00 in basketball referee fees from refereeing 11 basketball games and working officials table duties during 11 basketball games.
As teams are eliminated from Gateway Shootout basketball tournament, losing basketball teams are offered the opportunity to play scrimmage, half-court, and exhibition basketball games. Basketball referees who are not scheduled to work later tournament games are provided the opportunity to request additional referee work shifts for unofficial basketball activities at a flat rate of $100.00 per hour.
All Gateway Shootout basketball tournament referees are provided all scheduled meals, dedicated shuttle service, and one hotel room at no expense to them.
On Monday, December 29, 2025, Gateway Shootout basketball tournament referees may participate in NCAA, USA Basketball, WNBA, and NBA referee clinics hosted at the Gateway Shootout basketball tournament for no fee (excludes any certification fee that such athletic associations may charge for referee clinic certifications).
Gateway Shootout basketball tournament referees are each provided one admission to Gateway Shootout National H.S. Basketball VIP Dinner held on Monday, December 29, 2025.
Gateway Shootout National Boxing Tournament Summary
Gateway Shootout National Boxing Tournament is a Boys and Girls 16-boxer tournament featuring Junior and Youth boxers sanctioned by USA Boxing.
Each Gateway Shootout National Boxing Tournament boxer competes in two qualifying fight sessions between 10:00am-2:00pm and 5:00pm-10:00pm on December 29, 2025.
Any Gateway Shootout National Boxing Tournament boxer who loses both qualifying fight matches are automatically eliminated from the boxing tournament.
Any Gateway Shootout National Boxing Tournament boxer who wins both qualifying fight matches are automatically seeded in the boxing tournament.
In the event any Gateway Shootout National Boxing Tournament bracket has less than four undefeated boxers, bracket seeding shall be determined by total points accumulated during the qualifying round.
Gateway Shootout National Boxing Tournament semifinals is between 6:00pm-10:00pm on Tuesday December 30, 2025, and finals is between 7:00pm-10:00pm.
Gateway Shootout currently seeks 20 boxing referees who are actively certified as a Level III Referee by USA Boxing for our National Boxing Tournament.
During the first day of our Gateway Shootout boxing tournament, we assign two boxing referees to each of our 16 boxing rings and an additional rovering boxing referee assigned to each 4 boxing rings to provide referee breaks.
Each Gateway Shootout boxing tournament referee is paid a flat-rate fee of $1,000.00 to referee two five-hour boxing tournament sessions on Monday December 29, 2025.
During the semifinals tournament session on the second day of our Gateway Shootout boxing tournament, we assign two boxing referees to each of our six boxing rings and an additional rovering boxing referee assigned to three boxing rings to provide referee breaks.
Gateway Shootout will select fourteen boxing referees to work our boxing tournament semifinals session between 6:00pm-10:00pm on Tuesday December 30, 2025.
Each Gateway Shootout boxing tournament referee selected to work our boxing tournament semifinals session is paid a flat-rate fee of $600.00 to referee one four-hour boxing tournament semifinals session.
During the finals tournament session on the third day of our Gateway Shootout boxing tournament, we assign five boxing referees to our main boxing ring.
Gateway Shootout will select five boxing referees to work our boxing tournament semifinals session between 7:00pm-10:00pm on Wednesday December 31, 2025.
Each Gateway Shootout boxing tournament referee selected to work our boxing tournament semifinals session is paid a flat-rate fee of $800.00 to referee one three-hour boxing tournament finals session.
Gateway Shootout boxing tournament referees who are assigned to work all available boxing tournament shifts earn $2,400.00 in basketball referees fees from refereeing 4 boxing tournament sessions over three calendar days.
As boxers are eliminated from Gateway Shootout National Boxing Tournament, boxers are offered the opportunity to participate in exhibition boxing matches. Boxing referees who are not scheduled to work further boxing matches are provided the opportunity to request additional referee work shifts for boxing exhibitions at a flat-rate of $75.00 per hour.
All Gateway Shootout boxing tournament referees are provided all scheduled meals, dedicated shuttle service and one hotel room at no expense to our boxing tournament referees.
