About The Shootout

The Annie Malone High School Basketball Shootout features four separate Boys and Girls televised high school basketball tournaments hosted over New Year’s 2025/2026 at the Dome at America’s Center in Downtown St. Louis, Missouri.

Gateway Shootout is seeking paid referees, judges, scorers, scoreboard operators, timers, and facility setup logistics staff for our basketball, wrestling, boxing, cheerleading, dance, and band tournaments. We also seek St. Louis-area volunteers with a background in supporting high school athletic events to serve as community volunteers. All volunteer and staff members are provided one complimentary access pass to all Gateway Shootout general admission events!

National Tournament

The Annie Malone High School Basketball Shootout National Tournament is a 32-team, double-elimination boys’ and girls’ high school basketball tournament. It features 8 nationally ranked teams, 8 top-ranked teams from each of the 8 states surrounding Missouri, and 16 of Missouri’s best high school teams, selected based on performance, rankings, and recommendations from coaches and athletic directors.

National Play’in Round

Annie Malone High School Basketball Shootout National Play-in Round is a 16-game, single-elimination stage where 32 Missouri and Illinois high school basketball teams compete. The winners will earn a seeding in the National Tournament. This intense round offers rising programs a chance to prove themselves and secure a place among the best high school teams in the region and beyond.

Bi-State Tournament

Annie Malone High School Basketball Shootout Bi-State Tournament is a 16-team, double-elimination boys’ and girls’ high school basketball tournament. It features Missouri and Illinois teams that did not advance from the Play-in Round. These teams compete for Bi-State honors, valuable experience, and recognition in a tournament that highlights resilience, regional pride, and the spirit of second chances.
